CHERY Tyres GITI cannot be repaired:
We bought a Chery4Pro from this dealership and as with all dealerships they promised the world. After we took ownership of the vehicle, I reported that the right rear tire sensor was coming on frequently, even after I had topped up at my local petrol station. I was told to take the vehicle to the Chery Golden Era Motors workshop for analysis. The vehicle was tested, sent to professional tire companies, prodded, sensor replaced over a period of approximately 4 months... on the 5th visit to the workshop they found a nail in the tire and sent it to a professional tire repair shop to fix. Later the vehicle had to be returned to Chery Golden Era Motors as the TPS Sensor was still coming on. The next report said that when the first repair was done, sand got into the the patchwork and now the manager of this professional establishment took it on himself to make sure that the repair was done properly. A short while later the TPS Sensor came on again and the vehicle went back to Chery Golden Era Motors for a record sixth time. We were then informed that the tire had torn where the patchwork was done and another repair was not possible. I escalated this matter to CHERY SA and was advised to take the vehicle back to CHERY Golden Era Motors. The resolution which I am posting below came from CHERY SA and I am posting here that in the hope that some other consumers does not get caught the same way. I cannot wait to get rid of this car and that will be the last time I support CHERY in any way. In SHORT Chery South Africa is telling me that I have to replace this tire at my own costs and that there is no warranty that covers it.
Response from CHERY SA.
Good day Mr. Taffa
I hope you are well
Thank you for the below email and apologies for the delayed response
The dealership have confirmed that there is a puncher on the vehicle and has been repaired previously at no cost to you. With that being said Tyres are not covered under Chery warranty and only the tyre manufacturer has warranty on them for a certain period of time. Understanding that you mentioned that the dealership said they will replace the tyre however, dealer are also privately owned and we as the manufacturer we are limited involvement into their operations.
The dealership mentioned the issue with the tyre was attended to and they will not replace the tyre. The vehicle has been on the road for a while now and tyres are regarded as wear and tear items
*This is after I noted to them that for the first 5 visits there was no puncture/nail otherwise they would have fixed it and not replaced the TPS Sensor.
How am I liable for a defective tire supp**** by the company CHERY
How is it that none of the tire repairs attempted worked. Are these tires one time use only. When you get a puncture, the tire must be replaced as it cannot be patched in any way.
Last but not least, I did everything they told me to do to resolve this issue according to their instructions and have just received their resolution after a year of struggles and now I am too late to claim from the tire manufacturer.
