Chery Refusing Engine Warranty Claim Despite Vehicle Being Serviced at Authorised Dealership

I am extremely disappointed with how my warranty claim has been handled by Chery South Africa and Chery Midrand.

I am the owner of a Chery Tiggo 8 Pro 1.6 TDGi Executive DCT. I have maintained my vehicle through the Chery dealership network and have always ensured that it was serviced as required.

In February 2026, I took my vehicle to Chery Midrand for its 75,000 km service. After collecting the vehicle, I immediately noticed unusual sounds coming from the engine while driving to OR Tambo International Airport. Upon returning from holiday, I took the vehicle straight back to Chery Midrand for investigation.

After several days, I was informed that the vehicle had an engine problem and was assured that the repair would be covered under warranty. Chery Midrand even provided me with a courtesy vehicle while the warranty claim was being processed.

Four months later, I am still waiting for a resolution.

The latest explanation is that Chery Head Office is reluctant to approve the warranty claim because there is allegedly a missing 30,000 km service on their records.

This makes no sense to me because I distinctly remember having the 30,000 km service completed at Chery Midrand. I was assisted by an excellent and professional service consultant, who also assisted me with my 45,000 km service. Thereafter, I was assisted by another service consultant with later services, including the 75,000 km service.

My concern is simple:

1. The vehicle was serviced through Chery's authorised dealer network. 2. The engine issue was identified shortly after the 75,000 km service. 3. I was initially assured that the repair would be covered under warranty. 4. I have now been waiting for more than four months without a final decision. 5. If there is a missing service record, that appears to be an internal dealership or administrative issue that should not be used to deny a loyal customer a valid warranty claim.

I am asking Chery South Africa to urgently investigate this matter, verify the service history with Chery Midrand, and honour the warranty commitment made to me.

As a customer who trusted the Chery brand and its authorised service network, I find it unacceptable that I am potentially being penalised for what appears to be a record-keeping discrepancy within Chery's own system.
