Chery

I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding my recent experience with Chery, a brand I have admired and cherished since its launch. On January 8, 2025, I purchased a new Chery Tiggo 4 Pro Manual from the Chery Mafikeng dealership. Regrettably, this experience has fallen far short of the high standards I expected from your company, with the following issues of concern:

1. Service Book Discrepancy: Upon collecting the vehicle, I was informed that the car had already undergone its 5,000 km service, despite the odometer reading approximately 100 km at the time. Further investigation revealed that the service book had been updated to reflect a service completed at 42 km on May 5, 2024. This is both unusual and troubling, as the service book should accurately reflect the date of sale and mileage at the time of purchase. This discrepancy has forced me to miss the 5,000 km scheduled service and has set the next service at 15,000 km, resulting in missed services within the standard schedule by the time the car reaches 60,000 km.

2. Battery and Warranty Concerns: Within three months of ownership, I encountered repeated starting issues, necessitating jumpstarts by my insurance provider on three occasions. Eventually, the vehicle had to be towed to the nearest Chery dealership, where I was informed that the battery warranty had expired. To my dismay, the car’s registration details indicated a sale date of November 30, 2023, substantially reducing the warranty and service plan period. Despite being a brand-new vehicle—not a demonstration model—I was told to pay R4,000 for a battery replacement, leaving me feeling misled and vulnerable.

3. Lack of Adequate Customer Support: What has added to my frustration is the lack of a solution that reflects Chery's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. The Mafikeng dealership has declined to cover the cost or logistics of replacing the battery, expecting me to bear the inconvenience and expenses. This has left me feeling unsafe and uncertain about the vehicle’s reliability. Additionally, I had to follow up repeatedly with Chery SA, often struggling to reach your team or receive a callback, only to be met with an unsatisfactory resolution where my concerns were dismissed as conflicting claims between myself and the salesman.

Given these circumstances, I kindly request immediate intervention and resolution. Specifically, I believe that the vehicle should either be replaced with a new one or that I should be issued a full refund. This experience has eroded my confidence in both the dealership and the Chery brand, leaving me apprehensive about the vehicle's roadworthiness and its future reliability.

I remain hopeful that Chery will demonstrate its commitment to upholding its reputation and resolving this matter promptly. I am available for further discussions and can provide any additional information required to address these concerns. Please contact me at your earliest convenience to discuss the resolution.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
