Poor car service at Rustenburg Chery.
My Tiggo 8 Pro went in for its 75,000 km service in October. However, on December 24th, the car began experiencing serious power issues. I called the Rustenburg dealership and explained that the car was losing power and vibrating during acceleration. They told me to bring the car in on January 9th, 2026.
When I arrived, a salesperson used diagnostic scanning equipment and told me the battery needed to be replaced before a full diagnosis could be run. I took the car to a battery center, where they checked it and found no issues. They said they could not replace the battery unless I wanted to buy a new one, which I did.
Returning to Chery Rustenburg, the same salesperson ran the diagnosis again and said the error code pointed to faulty battery wiring. Unfortunately, they said they do not handle electronics and advised me to take the car elsewhere at my own cost.
Frustrated, I took the car home. Three weeks later, I brought it to Chery Roodepoort, where a mechanic discovered the real issue: damaged spark plugs. I paid to have the spark plugs replaced, and since then, the car has been running fine.
At the end of February, I confronted the manager at Chery Rustenburg demanding an explanation. He promised to investigate and respond, but I have yet to receive any feedback. My biggest gripe is that I had to travel 614km and replace a battery only to find out that the issue was simply spark plugs , how does a dealership miss that?
