Sales consultant Negligence and horrible customer service
In December 2020 I went into the Cellucity store, the N1 city Branch requesting to see what contracts I would qualify for. The sales consultant explained that in order to find out what I qualify for they would need to run a credit cheque on my behalf. She asked me if I were to take a contract out would I keep my current number and I said yes. She then told me that if I later decide to take a contract out with them and choose to keep my number I would then need to do a transfer of ownership as the number was on my fathers name at the time. I told her I understood and double checked to ensure that the transfer was not going to be done at the time and that I was only there at the time to check what I would qualify for in terms of contracts.
In mid January 2020 R708.00 was deducted from my bank account, confused and worried I reversed the amount immediately as a precaution and contacted my bank to try and find out why this deduction took place. After a long and dragging conversation between my bank and my father I realised that I needed to contact Cellucity. Essentially what had happened was that the sales consultant had done a transfer of ownership taking my cellphone number from my fathers name to my name without notifying me about any of the processes involved. We later found out after speaking to several Vodacom consultants that she required proof and permission from my father in order to do so as well as him signing off to the transfer. She had not done any of the required steps. She simply had me fill in a form for a credit cheque and completed the rest of the transfer process without any of the legal documentation. She also neglected to inform me about the billing processes and because of this I was charged for the transfer of ownership, the month of December and the month of January all in one bout and because I reversed my payment Vodacom penalized me an additional R100.00. After several trips, phone calls and frustration the store manager just labelled the whole situation as miscommunication and was appalled when I blamed it all on the store.
It is now April and I am still paying back surprise penalties and debt back to Vodacom all because of her negligence. I have NEVER EVER received worse customer care and lack of conflict resolution. I seriously hope this matter can be taken further, because I refuse to settle matters as they currently stand.
