You need to buy PAYG to phone 086 numbers despite a contract - Cell C

I had a 400 minute contract, SIM only and was very happy. I phoned any number in South Africa, then Cell-C upgraded me. Giving me more minutes. Sounded awesome. Suddenly I cannot phone any 086 numbers and get 'the number does not exist message'. I experience a burst water pipe at home and I cannot phone any plumbers because their numbers are all 086 numbers. I try phoning my security company to cancel a accidental alarm trigger, I get the same thing. Try various 086 numbers, just cannot phone them. Apparently with the upgrade I have been blocked from dialing 086 numbers unless I load PAYG minutes. Despite having over 900 minutes I cannot phone 086 numbers. Why was I never advised of this? Why would anyone take this option? With crime in South Africa, how do you contact your security companies or any national company? This is pathetic service. When I phone CellC to complain, they don't offer an option to chang to a different plan that caters for this, I must just pay PAYG money. What is the point of a contract type payment if you cannot phone everyone or have to now mix PAYG options? Stay away from Cell C, they don't have a customer driven or good business plan to retain customers.

Hi Cell C

So I used to be able to phone these numbers with no hassle. Cell C (or a representative) phoned to upgrade me and get me more minutes. At no stage was I told I could not phone 0860 and 0861 numbers. I needed to phone a plumber the other night in an emergency and they only have 0860 or 0861 numbers, unable to get old hold of anyone. Then I had a security issue where I needed to phone my security company, they only have 0861 numbers. Why was I not informed of this short coming? Why has Cell C still not said change to this plan and all will be fine? I expect to be able to pick up a phone and phone who ever I want in South Africa. Not have an issues phoning people, especially during emergencies. I had this with Cell C and now I don't. I used to love Cell C, but it looks like you want me to go to MTN or Vodacom. At no time have you said let's fix this. You keep saying that is not how it works. Clearly you do not want any customers, especially me.

I have also checked your website, at no stage does it advise that there are numbers you cannot phone, I do not have an option to add airtime that I can find and I also notice that international roaming cannot be done on these contracts.

Where where does you have exactly what you had before plus all these extra's come from? I have used international roaming and dialed 086 numbers frequently.

You are just repeating the same drivel as all the last Cell C replies. You probably have not even read the previous replies and have no interest in keeping customers. Firstly I am talking about 086 numbers, not 087 numbers. When upgrading I was promised the same as what I had with more minutes. I could phone 086 numbers before without having to get airtime or what ever the **** you want me to get. I never said I was going out of country but that it was an option I have made use of previously and is no longer an option with my current option, despite the upgrade having all my previous functions. No one has even thought of just phoning me to discuss my issue and find a way to resolve this issue, offer a solution or new package to migrate to or even to try save me as a customer. Poor customer service!
