Why are they called assistants when they can't assist?

I actually wish I could give it zero starts... It has been a long time since I experience such incompetency - especially the staff at the Tygervalley store. And then the consultant who I spoke to on the Customer Care Line told me I need to carry the costs for the shop assistant's incompetency.

All I wanted was to have my data contract cancelled and converted to a Cell C prepaid sim in order for me to by one of those Giga prepaid packages. (Because that is what my financial position and needs are right now.) I went to shop for assistance a month ago to do the paperwork, yet on the 1st on this month I received a SMS to say that new data was loaded as per my contract. So due to Cell C shop assistant incompetency data was loaded to my phone - which I hear is now my mistake that it have been used (smartphones use background data if there is data loaded, no data loaded, no background usage - apparently this is too difficult for your employees to understand) .

Now, to have my contract cancelled immediately - because it was never processed/sent through (or whatever) by the shop assistant and because I can't have another full debit order going off my account - I need to pay for whatever data that was used. While I never asked for that data, I actually requested for it to NOT be loaded. I suffered costs and expenses because Cell C does not listen or care about their clients requests, needs or abilities.

Apologies for the poor service received in our store as well as our Customer Care department.

This is not the norm or standard of service we want for our customers. One of our team members will contact you and assist with your cancellation request.

Regards

My contract was cancelled after I insisted and refused wait any longer for basic assistance. Unfortunately, I could not obtain that by asking nicely, I needed to get upset and persisting first. And actually, my experience is that bad service it is your norm, especially from (both) the Tygervalley Stores. I have been a client of Cell C since they started, but to get proper assistance there is a head ache. And this was my second SIM that I wanted to convert to prepaid, and with the first one last year, it was just as big a mission as this one. A good start will be providing your employees with proper training - the people they assist is not stupid and sometimes better informed than you may think. You may have a certain policy, but the Consumer Protection Act allows for deviation and cancellation in periods shorter than 20 business days. And as is, I can and may assist that you comply within the provisions of the Act and is it unacceptable that some assistance think you are above the laws of our country. If I wanted to become a teacher, I would have, but I am not - hence I do not want to be the one who educate your employers on the basics of agreements and the Consumer Protection Act.
