WARNING - Cell C has an inability to port a number!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On Thursday, 14 December 2017 my son’s cell phone was ******. I had a contract with Vodacom and decided that Cell C had better options for more value for money. On Saturday, 16 December 2017, I decided to contact Cell C direct sales for assistance to buy a new cell phone and to take out a contract with them as my time during working hours are limited and I would not be able to visit a branch. I spend the whole morning trying to get somebody to help me on in their contact centre. Eventually I got hold of the correct contact number and spoke with Kholiwe Magagula. She was very helpful, and I asked for a LG phone on the Pinnacle 600 contract plan. I also asked that my son’s number to stay the same on the Cell C number. I furnished them with all the required information and documentation. I explained several times that I would like the Pinnacle 600 contract and specified the applicable number on the emails as well as during our conversations. I was informed via email that somebody would contact me Monday or Tuesday to validate my application. Nobody contact, so I send an enquiry through. The cell phone was delivered on Thursday morning. Just as it was open we noticed that my personal cell phone number was being ported from Vodacom to Cell C and not that of my son’s number. I was in Durban and my wife went through to the nearest branch. During this time, I got hold of Kholiwe and discussed the confusion with her. My wife and the consultant at the brand tried for three quarters of an hour to try to get hold of Kholiwe. Eventually they reached her, and she informed them that everything was sorted and that the correct number would be ported and that everything would be sorted by the next day. At six that evening I received a welcoming sms from Cell C and my phone went dead. My number was ported to Cell C. Again, nothing was corrected as promised. This whole process was now six days. On Friday morning we went back to the branch and the consultant again tried in vain to get hold of Kholiwe. She promised to call Komiwe again as we were told she would be in at eleven. At one o’ clock Kholiwe called and informed us that we now need to go and Rica a new sim card and then call her back with the number of the sim card. I went back to the branch, got hold of a sim card, called her with the number. She promised that everything would be sorted. An hour later Kholiwe called again to enquire whether this number that must be ported will be a pay as you go?????!!!! I again tried to explain to her that I asked for a Pinnacle 600 contract. It was clear to me that she still could not understand. I called the consultant at the branch and asked if she could assist me with this matter. The consultant apparently escalated the matter and informed me that everything would be sorted within 48 working hours. I am still waiting in anticipation to see if this will realise. I was promised that my account would be corrected with Vodacom, my number given back to me at Vodacom and that I would receive all my accumulated data and minutes back. I was promised that my son would be on the correct contract and that his number would be ported. It is VERY sad that personnel at the head office at a major cell company today are not able to supply a client with what they ask for. This whole matter is raising questions about the quality of personnel employed with Cell C. I was thinking of changing my other three contracts to Cell C as well, but I will definitely now think twice. This letter is to warn others that was thinking of choosing Cell C as a network provided. After ten days and four visits to the branch we are still waiting. Maybe tomorrow will be my lucky day!
