Very unhappy customer

Cell C Huawei P8

I have been a Cell C client for a number of years. In June 2016 after having problems with a Samsung phone I cut short my contract and took out a Huawei P8 on a new contract with Cell C Africa Mall, Johannesburg.

I use it with a WiFi router, both at home and when away. On the 7th October, 2017 it wouldn’t give me the option to connect to WiFi and only had limited services.

I went onto the online helpdesk and was told they couldn’t deal with the problem but I would be contacted within 48 hours by Cell C technical staff. ( I am still waiting)

I decided to take the phone to Cell C , Walmer Shopping Centre where I was informed: 1. It would have to go to the repair centre for 2 weeks 2. No loan phone was available 3. I could try Wefixit Definitely a crash course in common courtesy and customer relations required!!

Wefixit then referred me to Vodacom in Greenacres who in turn sent me to Cell C Greenacres.

All three of these stores told me that the non – WiFi connection was a fault with Huawei software as the original had a bug and couldn’t update. Cell C Greenacres explained that they didn’t have loan phones and suggested I try the Regional Office.

Regional office confirmed the phone would need to go in for repairs and were able to give me a loan phone. I was informed that the year’s warranty was up and that I would need to pay for the update of software. The last 4 stores estimated a cost in the region of R250.

I received a notification to contact Cell C repairs for a quote; after 2 days of being continually cut off, I went back to Regional Office. There I received a quote of over R1800.00 - no breakdown was available. The only explanation that could be given was that “ warranty had expired”.

Please explain!!! I still have 8 months contract to run. How does the cost involved escalate from R250 to over R1800.00?

A very disgusted and unhappy customer.
