******** RICA Process

I have recently lost my SIM card, so as per norm I went to a CELL C store (Centurion mall) to purchase a sim card (2015/11/11). I was told that Cell C was giving free sim cards, which was good to hear. The sales person then asked for my details ( Names, ID, address), which he said were for the sim card to be registered.

I then called Cell C customer care to do the sim swap. Everything went well until I was told that the sim card was already registered. I explained that this was done in the Cell C store when I got the sim card. I was then advised that it was not registered under my name. After much querying I was asked to get another sim card which I did the following day (2015/11/12/), this time at a PEP store. The same thing happened, sim card was registered under someone else's name.

How do brand new sim cards in unopened packages come RICA'd already?? How do someone else's details get linked to a number, I'm talking ID numbers, names and addresses??? Why do the sales personnel not advise the customers properly?? Call centre staff and shop staff provide different information. Petrol is costly.

Then Cell C has the audacity to ask whether we'll recommend family and friends??
