Unfair cancellation practices

Just phoned cellc to hear whether or not I can cancel my contract on the 1st of April. They informed me that the cancellation cost will be R1200. My contract expires on the 1st of July and currently costs R400 per month. So they basically want me to buy the entire contract out. That is ********.

Any way I told them that I would then rather cancel it on the 1st of July since there is no sense paying the full price to cancel my contract. Adrian then informs me that I must phone in June to cancel my contract and that I cannot cancel it now. He sates that the contract requires a 30 day notice period, however we all know that that implies at least 30 days and not at most.

After this I will think twice before choosing cellc as a service provider!!!

Hello murdock619,

Thank you for posting to us.

As per the terms and conditions you are required to provide a calendar month notice in order to have your contract cancelled on its maturity date.

We have requested one of the consultants in the escalations team to contact you and assist.

Regards
Cell C | PN

Best regards,
