At the beginning of 2017 my cell phone contract for a Samsung J1 was over. I cancelled telephonically knowing that within 30 days I would not be bound to any contract. After the 30 days I called to confirm that the contract was terminated. The agent tried talking me into taking another contract but I explained that I was not ready for another one. He said since I don’t want to be bound by a contract he could offer me a month to month deal for 1gig of data at R75 which would be debited off my bank account. The ONLY reason I agreed is because I knew I was not bound. Now that I’ve decided to take 2 contracts I could not understand why there was a problem keeping my cell number until yesterday, after numerous calls to Cell C where agents kept transferring me from one to another without giving me any definitive answers, eventually one of the them told me the reason I’m having issues is due to the fact that I am bound by a 24 month contract on my current number! I did not agree to anything of the sort and I demand that those in authority go back to the recording of when the agent instated a contract on my name in 2017. That will be all the proof needed to confirm I did not agree to it. How is anyone at a huge organisation like Cell C allowed to process a deal without my knowledge? That is ********* and ******** and someone needs to sort this out ASAP.
