Unauthorized sim swap. Going to take my business away from Cell C after 20 years.

Had an unauthorized sim swap on one of my numbers. Cell C support wants me to drive out to the nearest shop which is 80km away to have my number reactivated. My advice to anyone reading this is to reconsider joining Cell C. This is going to cost me a lot to take off from work to deal with a bad systems design on their part.

I have supported Cell C from 2002 with many of my family members using them. I'm going to move all my Cell C numbers to Vodacom or MTN. Their support is completely *********** in resolving my issue. It gets passed on from person to person.

I'm not driving out to deal with your problems Cell C. I give you 4 days to fix this then I'm gone.

Why can't you have people accept sim swaps using an industry standard 2FA mechanism from within your app?

This is still unacceptable. This is not the customer's problem. You as Cell C went with a bad systems design and now your customers have to pay the price.

I will drive the 80km to my nearest branch if you reimburse me for fuel. Otherwise I will cancel all my Cell C accounts.

Yes or no?

Never got a call from CellC so I went in to a store. They were unable to help me. System issues. I was nice to the person there. They're just doing their job.

I want a technical person to from CellC to contact me and explain how their sim swap process works. I want to understand how another person was able to start the sim swap process without authentication from me, the owner of the number and why my number got deactivated by CellC. I'm a software developer. I would like a technical overview of the process.

We got a blank sim delivered from Cellc. Not sure what to do with this un-reca-ed sim. We would have gotten one if we went in to Cellc. This just gets worse with them. I'm also still waiting for an explanation of how the unauthorized sim swap happened.

I went in to Cellc recently to try and get access to my own number. The representative told me that I need to phone support and support told me to go to a CellC store. So I had them battle it out in a game of "who want's to do their job". After the store manager got involved they magically realized that it was in fact the store's job so they did a security check, sim swap and had me pay R16. After 2 days the number is still not active. CellC is costing my business to lose a lot of revenue. I am busy returning the favor by moving all my staff and my family's numbers to Vodacom. I know, no one cares but every bit helps.
