Unauthorized Debit Order After Contract Cancellation – No Service Provided

My Cell C cellphone contract was cancelled last month (November 2025) with Cell C customer service. I have confirmation that the contract was terminated. Despite this, on 24 December 2025, Cell C processed an authenticated debit order of R551.02 from my Capitec Bank account (Main Account). Not only is this debit unauthorized post-cancellation, but Cell C provided absolutely no service in return – no airtime, no data, nothing. This is effectively taking money for a non-existent service. I have already disputed this debit with Capitec Bank and will be escalating if not resolved immediately. I demand:

Immediate refund of the R551.02 debited on 24 December 2025. Written confirmation that the contract is fully cancelled with no further debits. Cancellation of the debit order mandate. Compensation for any bank fees incurred due to this unauthorized deduction.

This behaviour contravenes the Consumer Protection Act – continuing to charge after cancellation without service is unfair and unacceptable. Cell C, please resolve this urgently and contact me. I am extremely disappointed and will escalate to the National Consumer Commission if not sorted within 48 hours. Thank you.
