*****ulently Contract Upgrade, Contract Number ***
In February 2021, I took a data contract with Cell C, and it was on promotion therefore I was paying a discounted subscription that covered the device (Router) and data package. The contract term (24 months) was to end in February 2023, and I did not upgrade and/or took a new contract, although I was receiving calls from Cell C representatives, coaxing me to upgrade. In January 2023, I received a call from Cell C representatives, she informed me that since I’m on a discounted promotional subscription, she is calling to assist me so can retain the 2021 promotional subscription & data package when my contract term comes to an end. She further confirmed that once my contract terms end, I will be on a month-to-month basis for the same discounted promotional subscription & data package. I agreed to continue on a month-to-month basis for the discounted subscription & data package. The subscription was going to be even lesser since I would have finished the repayments towards the handset.
At the beginning of March, my data got finished within 5 days, after it was loaded. And I had to top-up countless times, I also had to buy data for my Vodacom line; this was new for me, as I normally carry over my data and sometime it will end up expiring. On 29 March 2023, I went to the Cell C retail outlet to enquire and upgrade if necessary, since I was on a month-to-month contract. The assistant from the retail outlet informed me that I was not in a position to upgrade because I recently upgraded on 23rd February 2023. I want to reiterate that I did not sign up for a new contract and/or upgrade, and I was surprised to be informed that I recently upgraded. Cell C *****ulently signed me up for a new contract. This ***** is aggravated by the fact that the new contract data package is running out quickly when compared to what I had before, and obviously, the upgrade took away all the rol****** data which I have accumulated.
On 30 March 2023, I sent an affidavit to ********, I also included my bank statement and ID copy, (as per Cell C requirement in order to investigate the matter). I was issued case number ***. I was informed that the matter will be solved within 48 hours. I have been calling Cell C daily since the 3rd of April, and I’ve been tossed from pillar to post, with a clear undertone to frustrate me.
I would like Cell C to refund me all subscription amounts, starting from February 2023, compensate me for taking away my rol***** data, and to cancel this contract.
