*****ulent Cell C Account Opened Using My ID – Poor Handling and SAFPS Listing

In 2022, someone *****ulently opened a Cell C account using my ID details and obtained a cellphone contract without my authorization or consent. What is extremely concerning is that Cell C has never been able to properly explain: How the account was opened using my personal information What verification process was followed How ***** checks failed Why an account could be approved without my knowledge or permission When I reported the *****, the service I received from Cell C was very poor. It took an unreasonably long time for the *****ulent account to be investigated and closed, causing me stress and inconvenience. To make matters worse, my name has now been listed with SAFPS because of this *****ulent activity, even though I was the victim of identity ***** and did not open the account myself.
