Uauthorised Account with CELL C
Good morning,
I am writing with great concern regarding an incident that occurred at the Fourways Mall Cell C store. During a visit, I inquired about a promotion and provided my ID number for a qualification check. The consultant informed me that I qualified for a contract and advised me to bring my three-month bank statements and a copy of my ID to open an account. I did not sign any contract or give permission for any deductions.
However, two days later, R499.00 was deducted from my account, followed by R1,300.00 after seven days. When I tried to reverse these amounts, Cell C blocked me from doing so via my banking app, requiring me to visit the branch. At the Cell C Fourways Mall branch last month, I received two documents: one confirming I don’t owe Cell C anything and another confirming I don't have any Cell C items.
Despite this, I continue to receive calls from debt collectors, and my Vodacom SIM card and phone, which were not on a contract, have been blocked. When trying to make calls, I receive a message stating, "This number has been suspended, please contact your service provider regarding your account that has an outstanding amount." I do not have an account with Cell C.
Furthermore, I am not receiving notifications of these deductions, making it seem as though Cell C is attempting to take money without proper authorization. This is extremely concerning, especially for individuals who may not regularly check their transactions.
I urge Cell C to:
Remove my name from your system immediately. Unblock my number and restore my connection. Cease all unauthorized deductions from my account. I need this matter resolved urgently as it has severely impacted my ability to communicate, especially with my children.
Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.
