TO SWITCH OR NOT TO SWITCH

I decided to switch my 2 business contracts from Vodacom to Cell C. On 15th June 2016 I went to the Cell C Bayside store in Centurion Mall. I had all the necessary documents with me: proof of residence, my ID book, the purchase order from my company, 6 months signed bank statements (although only 3 was needed) plus the Vodacom Pre Cancellation letter which is valid for 7 days stating the exact buy-out amount which Cell C must pay. Thabo was the consultant that helped me. He did the paperwork and I signed the documents. He gave me 2 new SIM cards and promised I'd be switched within 48 hours. (I spent at least 2 hours in the shop)

By the 25th June I called Thabo and enquired why the switch has not happened as my Vodacom debit order is due by the end of June. He said he would find out what the delay was - but I heard nothing from him or anyone else from Cell C. At the end of June I paid my Vodacom account.

I went to Durban for business and did not contact Cell C bayside until 10th July.

By 10th July I called Thabo again requesting the same. Again - no explanation given why it is taking so long. He promised he would find out and let me know. I went into the shop and was told I needed new pre-cancellation letters from Vodacom.

On 20th of July I got 2 new pre cancellation letters from Vodacom with new amounts on them which I emailed urgently to cell C requesting an urgent responce as the letters are only valid for 7 days and the switch needed to be finalised. I got no reply, NOTHING, NADA.

By the 26th July I went to the shop for the 3rd time, and Willie which was the branch manager (for the day) was helpful. He said the incorrect forms were completed and nothing was processed. He was very sorry but would help me. During the day he called me twice saying he has submitted the correct documents to the Cell C Head Office, everything was done - so sorry but it will only take 3 days to do the switch. I waited until 29 July and called the branch. I spoke to Thabo who promised his manager will phone me back in 30 minutes, and again there was no phone call and no switch! I paid my Vodacom account by the end of July and still have not heard a thing from Cell C Bayside.

I have now come to the unfortunate conclusion that:

1. Cell C does not have the financial means to pay customers the buy-out contract fee and are stalling the process in such a way that it is impossible for clients to do business this way;

2. Perhaps Vodacom is the better service suppliers and although a bit more expensive, you at least get service when you need it;

3. Cell C has no regard for client service, are unreliable and ********* in promising the public a certain product and are not delivering at all;

4. If it is so difficult to GIVE Cell C my business, how IMPOSSIBLE is it going to be to resolve an issue or do an enquiry once Cell C HAS my business?

I really tried my very best to switch networks, but it seems as if Cell C is just not geared up to do as they promise they would do. What a pity that their own incompetence is going to cost them dearly as I can not see myself doing busines with Cell C in any way.
