Thoroughly useless Cell C customer "Care"; an exercise in frustration and high blood pressure.

For the second time this year, I find myself exasperated by Cell C customer care. I received an SMS asking me to update my new card details by calling customer care, only to be told that they were not able to do so. On my second unsuccessful attempt, I asked to speak to a supervisor, only to be put on hold for a considerable time and thereafter I was promised a call back from said supervisor. Unsurprisingly, I've been waiting for the callback for two weeks or somewhere thereabout and no luck so far. I then sent an e-mail, only to receive an automated response, followed by an e-mail reading as follows:

We have received your email to change the debit order to cash payment.

Kindly note that we cannot cancel a debit order as it is a mandatory requirement of your Subscriber Agreement however should you want to change to cash payment due to unemployment or not receiving any income please forward the documents below.

Inactive bank account letter

Retrenchment letter

An affidavit from the police stating the reasons why you want to cancel a debit order.

Regards Maxine cell c written correspondence Please note that I am trying to update my card details and not to change the debit order to cash payment. I responded as follows:

Good day Maxine

I find myself extremely frustrated with Cell C for the second time this year, as customer care gives me no assistance or care whatsoever.I received an SMS asking me to call customer care to change my new card details, but they cannot help me with this simple task. I asked to speak to the supervisor and was promised that I would receive a call-back. This, needless to say has not happened. I then wrote to Cell C asking for the relevant forms to apply for a debit order, as your drawing my deductions from my card is not, strictly speaking, a debit order and I grow tired of constantly being asked to update my card details and not being helped in this regard.

Please assist. If I do not receive your promptest attention to this matter, I shall have no choice but to again write a review to Hellopeter, and this time I at least have your name to append to said review.

Thank you

This morning, at about 7 am whilst driving on the freeway (as are many of us at that hour), I was phoned by a number identified as suspected spam, and naturally I didn't/couldn't answer. I then received the following e-mail:

Thank you for contacting cell c.

We have received your email regarding your card details.

Kindly note we have attempted to call you on *** but we could not reach you.

In order to assist we need to verify your details telephonically.

For further assistance contact customer care on 084135.

Regards,

cell c written correspondence.

I then wrote back as follows: Thank you for responding. Please note that I receive no assistance whatsoever when I contact customer care on 084135.

Kindly advise

Unsurprisingly I received another automated response.

All I am trying to do is to update my card details, which, with any 21st century business, should be as easy as falling off a log. Why, oh why is their customer care centre so excruciatingly uncaring and so devoid of service?

I would definatly not advise anyone to even think of joining this company.
