The Worst Customer Service Experience – Avoid Cell C!!!!! Customer Service Disaster

I feel compelled to share my experience with Cell C, as it has reached a point of sheer exhaustion and frustration. If you value customer service, accountability, and transparency, I strongly urge you to think twice before entering into any contract with them.

Took on a contract on the 29 July 2025, and as of today 12 August 2025, I have still not received a device. Since day one, I’ve had to: Call every single day, chasing what should be a standard process. Deal with contradictory stories from different departments. Listen to an endless list of excuses — and believe me, if there's an excuse to be made, I've heard it: “You’ll receive it by the end of the day.” “We have found a Cell C store that you can collect from.” “Logistics didn’t log it.” “You can’t collect — we need to cancel the online request.” “That team doesn’t work weekends.” “We’ve emailed the department and are still waiting for feedback.” “It should be resolved within the hour.” “It should be delivered today.” “It’s on the way to you – here is your waybill number.” “It’s not us — it’s the Sales department.” “It’s with the Follow-Ups Department.” “We can see the request was captured incorrectly.” …and the list goes on.

Even the Escalations Department, supposedly in place to resolve high-priority issues, appears powerless or completely ignored by other teams. The internal communication breakdown within Cell C is completely dysfunctional. No one takes ownership, and I, the customer, am stuck in the middle, chasing answers that never come.

At this point, I no longer have the energy to keep fighting for service delivery. I’ve fulfilled my end of the agreement, followed every step, and waited patiently. But all I’ve received in return is poor service, mismanagement, and a total lack of respect for my time. This isn’t a delay — it’s neglect.

If you’re considering a contract with Cell C, think carefully. My advice: Don’t do it. Until Cell C can fix its internal mess and start valuing their customers — you’re better off elsewhere.

Dear Noma Tshabalala,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We sincerely apologize for the frustration and inconvenience you've endured. This is not the level of service we aim to provide, and we deeply regret the delays and lack of clear communication you've encountered.

We understand how exhausting it must be to follow up repeatedly without resolution.

Our records show that your application has been successfully captured and a DebiCheck mandate has been issued. Kindly confirm whether you have accepted the mandate on your end, as this will allow us to proceed and expedite the process.

We value your patience and loyalty, and we are committed to resolving this matter as quickly as possible.

Regards

Another excuse I have accepted 3 mandates since the 30 July - as I have said if there is an excuse to be made, I've heard it. I’ve fulfilled my end of the agreement, followed every step, and waited patiently. But all I’ve received in return is poor service, mismanagement, and a total lack of respect for my time. Cell C: has a A Masterclass award in Poor Customer Service and do not value customer Loyalty

Every time I engage with Cell C it's the same pattern — excuses, deflection, and zero accountability for their repeated failures

I’ve been told the same thing repeatedly with no results. Escalating to a department with no authority to resolve the issue means nothing — this was already escalated on 6 August 2025 and handled by Sidwell and Khulekani. Today is the 12 August 2025, and yet nothing has changed

This has been “reviewed” and “escalated” multiple times with no outcome. I don’t need another generic acknowledgment or yet another deflected response about urgency. It’s already long overdue — and considering that the majority of complaints about Cell C are related to appalling customer service, that alone should be a clear warning: STAY AWAY FROM CELL C

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Khulekani, Sidwell, and especially Busi from the Mall of Africa store, who went the extra mile to assist in resolving my issue — despite the immense internal challenges they themselves were likely facing within Cell C. With this experience being incredibly frustrating and exhausting for me as a customer, these individuals truly stood out. They didn’t just offer lip service — they actively worked to help. I know they were doing everything they could behind the scenes, navigating the same internal delays and communication breakdowns that made this process so difficult for me. And yet, they persisted. A special thank you to Busi, who not only followed through but personally delivered the device to my workplace. That level of dedication is rare and genuinely appreciated. To Khulekani, and Busi — thank you for your patience, your persistence, and for showing real integrity in the face of a broken process. Cell C would have lost me as a customer if it weren’t for the fact that you were there — taking my calls, responding to my endless messages, and handling the countless follow-ups. While this overall experience has been daunting, and frankly one of the most disappointing customer service journeys I’ve had, it’s important to acknowledge the people who made a difference when others didn’t. I truly hope Cell C recognizes your efforts — and understands that you are doing your best within a system that desperately needs fixing.
