Stop misleading poor citizens Cell C

I am a client of Cell C and I had a 24-month contract with them. So towards the end of my term, I was given an option to upgrade and I declined because I was still happy with my contract and my device. My contract expired in December 2020. I am no longer using the number as well.

20/05/2021

When I checked my account details just to see if I can qualify for an upgrade and to check other available options, I was surprised to see that I owe more than R1700. I then called Cell C customer care to find out what had happened, I spoke to Sizwe who informed me that this amount is due to month-to-month charges of the benefits. I was not informed of this as I was entering the agreement with Cell C and nobody from Cell C tried to inform me that at the end of the term I would be charged the benefit on a monthly basis.

Sizwe confirmed that he does not see any notes where it stipulates that I had agreed on this month-to-month charge and there were no calls made on this. So I would like clarity because I still want to use Cell C as my service provider and I am disputing this amount.

Now I have a default that I do not understand. Cell C please fix this or I forward this to the Ombudsman.

Hi Simthembile

Thank you for contacting Cell C.

It is stipulated in the terms and conditions of your contract that should you not upgrade or cancel, then the contract will continue to run on a month-to-month basis.

Good day MP

This was contract was entered over the phone so there was no documentation sent to me. At least Cell C representative could have mentioned that particular clause or towards of the contract someone call to alert me of such.

Please listen to your recording when the sales person contacted me, and tell me if I agreed to that and when was the documentation sent to me.

I will wait for your response.

Regards

This was not communicated to me. Was the subscriber read to me by the sales consultant? Please listen to the recording and I know for a fact that I spoke to one of your consultants who confirmed that no documentation was sent to me and no one bothered from Cell C to call just to say please be advised that your contract is about to expire and Cell C is going to continue deducting if you do not cancel your contract. This contract was for 24 months not more than that.

Why you only respond when I took this matter to hellopeter?

Please Cell C do not trap people because the consultant could have at least had the decency to read that clause or send me the agreement.

Will wait for your response.

The contract was done over the phone. And the phone was delivered to my workplace. Hence, why I am saying there was no agreement that was sent to me.

When a contract is taken over the phone, you would be sent a physical copy of the terms and conditions. However, you would also have been advised to see the terms and conditions regarding your contract on our website.

I am making it easy for you guys, please listen to the recording as you state that " you would also have been advised to see the terms and conditions regarding your contract on our website."
I am sure you have it and come back to me. I am sure your records would state when the documents were sent as well.

Because now this is not assisting us. I am making it easy for you guys to go and listen to your recording and check your records of when did the copy of my contract was sent.

Or should the ombudsman office drag out this information from you guys?
