I previously spoke to Jabulani, a manager in the Cancellations Department, who undertook to investigate my case and provide feedback as soon as possible. It has now been two weeks without any response. On 23 March 2026 at 13:36, I contacted Jabulani (Jabu) again. I was informed that she was in a meeting, and a message was left for her to return my call. Despite this, I received no response. I followed up again today(24 March 2026) at 11:16 and was eventually able to speak to Jabu. She once again indicated that she was experiencing system issues and advised that my case had been referred to Finance. She further stated that she would revert to me once her system issues had been resolved. I made it clear that we are approaching the end of the month and that I am concerned about receiving an incorrect invoice, which I do not intend to pay. I was assured that she would attempt to revert to me as soon as possible. This ongoing lack of communication and resolution is unacceptable. Kindly advise how I am expected to receive proper service under these circumstances.

Cell C continues to indicate on HelloPeter that they have responded to my complaint privately. However, the so-called responses consist of voicemail messages left on incorrect phone numbers that they have on record. This is both misleading and unacceptable, as no actual communication has been received by me. Kindly ensure that all further correspondence is directed to my current pay-as-you-go number. I expect accurate and effective communication going forward. I also do not have Voicemail setup on my current phone.

Despite being informed that my account was suspended on 2 March, I am now faced with the likelihood of receiving a full invoice for March on 28 March. This is entirely unacceptable, as I have not made use of any data or calls under this contract during this period. For clarity, I formally requested at the end of January that my contract be cancelled at the end of February, thereby providing the required one month’s notice. It is therefore unreasonable and unjustified to charge me for an additional month. I am at a loss as to what further steps I am expected to take in order to have this matter resolved. The continued lack of proper communication and resolution reflects a clear level of incompetence on the part of Cell C.

I submitted my final communication to Cell C on 25 March 2026, indicating that I would escalate the matter to ICASA and the National Consumer Commission should it not be resolved within five days.

On the morning of 26 March 2026, I received my first feedback call from Cell C regarding my cancellation request. I was contacted by Johnny from the Escalations Department, who confirmed that my cancellation had been finalised and that I would only be liable for the February account, in line with my original request. I requested written confirmation via email for my records. I then waited until the February amount was processed before providing this update.

I can confirm that the correct amount for February was ultimately deducted. While I appreciate that the matter has now been resolved, this outcome followed numerous calls, emails, unnecessary stress, and a significant amount of time spent on my part.

It is also important to note that I had suffered multiple strokes approximately two months prior to dealing with this matter. Having to manage this prolonged and stressful situation significantly increased my stress levels, which is not conducive to my recovery process.

I am relieved that the issue has finally been concluded and trust that I will not have to experience a similar situation again.
