STAFF FAIL TO CANCEL CONTRACT

My dad had 2 contracts with Cell C which were both due for upgrade in August. My dad authorized me to speak on his behalf. After numerous attempts, my details were finally updated on their system.

On 12th January, my dad and I both spoke to an agent in the retentions department to have both contracts cancelled as we did not wish to renew. This agent started shouting at my dad and hung up on us. I called again and demanded to be put through to the manager who was Elon Govender. he assured us BOTH contracts would both be terminated on 21 August. At the end of September I called to query why my dad still received his top up airtime on the 1 number and was told that only 1 contract was cancelled.

I then kept calling until I got ahold of the same manager who initially handled the cancellation and was told he does not know what had happened and he has to talk to my dad again before cancelling and it would only be cancelled at the end of October. (my dad lives in Durban and I am in Pretoria). He promised he would call my dad the next day. After a week I called again and demanded he call my dad asap as this was just getting ridiculous. So he eventually called my dad and convinced him to go onto a month to month contract. he also assured my dad that this time the contract would be cancelled on 31st October.

This contract is still active as my dad still received the top up airtime again this month. I find the attitude of Cell C staff atrocious and disgusting. They are not helpful at all and I suggest they employ competent staff. I will be taking this further if this matter is not resolved asap.
