My simcard stopped working, out of the blue. So I thought I could get a sim-swop... Boy was I wrong, not with Cell C, they should change their name to HELL C, they make it totally impossible to do a sim-swap, they ask impossible questions, like "How many times did you use a service?" Really, who pays that much attention to their phones, is that a fair question? So I thought I should send my ID and other proof that I am the owner of the SIMcard. No, not with Cell C. It's been hell. Cell C's email support consultants use a copy and paste template instead of applying themselves to solving the problems, Cell C will tell you to send an email as another option they provide to support customers. That's a lie. Firstly, their customer care department is nothing short of automatons, all the way to Supervisor Level. They totally refuse to apply their minds or troubleshoot, the one consultant I spoke to didn't even know the correct customer service e-mail address, I had to find it online. I have sent cell C my copy of ID, copy of SARS profile showing my ID number and Cell phone number, I have sent the recently dialed numbers which I had to read from the call log of my phone, I have also emailed a copy of the 3 vouchers that was used with my number. Instead they insist on wanting to know how many times I used the emergency airtime service in the last 30 days, that's not important to me, I use it so many times and keep recharging my account that it would be impossible to keep a number in my mind. I pointed out to all the people I interacted with at cell c, be it email or telephonic that I am in a village 4 hours apart from any Cell C store, that fact doesn't register in any of their minds, all they do is hide behind a lock in the system. Now I have to stay 30 days without using my number to wait for the lock to reset, my business has come to a grinding halt. I can't bank, I can't transact online, i can't use any of the apps on my phone. This is a clear case of Security verses Usability, How else could I prove that I am the owner of the Simcard? Does it register in their minds that no ********* would go as far as to keep trying the same number over and over again?
