Sim Swop ***** and no action taken by CELL C
End July 2021 I billed a R595 when my normal monthly billed amount is R99 for the data contract I have. I call Cell C customer service to query the amount and was told that a sim swop was done on 28 June 2021. Furthermore 7GB of data was bought on that date as well as a number of calls made. I explained that I did not do any sim swop and someone has **********ly done a sim on my account. On further checking my account details with the consultant my email address was also changed which explained why I did not receive my previous month statement. After sending emails to Cell C ***** department, getting an affidavit from the police station. Going into a Cell C store where an assistant kindly collate all the information and sent this to the ***** department as well on 2 August 2021. I have called the ***** number only to told someone will get back to in due course. I have repeatedly emailed the ***** department and only get the automated response "Thank you for your email. Please take note of the following: All ***** related queries will be attended to within 48 working hours (working days - Monday to Friday, excluding Public Holidays)." To date I have sent 10 emails to ***. It is now 2 month later. I had ***** committed on my Cell C account, with no apology or explanation from Cell C or as to how this occurred and no reassurance that this will occur again. Cell C security protocols has failed for allowing someone to do sim swop on my account and change my details More importantly due to this ***** i have been rob R500 and Cell C does not even have the decency to refund me.

So firstly I get a call from gentleman that is their ***** expert telling me how should try and avoid this type of ***** happening again. So after getting a tutorial about what I need to do to protect myself. No proper explanation was given as to how this person manage to bypass Cell C security measure and **********ly do a sim swop on my account and buy data that cost me R500. The nice gentleman told me that he would get someone to contact me to activate a pin on my account which will be added measure to prevent others from transacting on my Cell C account.
I AM STILL AWAITING FOR THIS CALL
AND I STILL WAITING FOR AN APOLOGY FROM CELL C FOR THEIR ERROR IN ALLOWING SOME TO ********** TRANSACT ON MY CELL C ACCOUNT.
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY I AM WAITING TO BE REFUND THE R500 THAT WAS CHARGED TO ME FOR SIM SWOP, DATA AND CALLS THIS PERSON MADE WHEN THE ***** WAS COMMITTED.
AS MY SIM WAS NO LONGER ACTIVE I HAD TO GO SPEND ANOTHER R145 FOR A SIM SWOP FOR MY DATA LINE.
Thank you Cell C. This is how you treat customers and you wonder why your business is floundering.
