Sim Swap Nightmare
<p>I had a prepaid sim in my phone. I lost my phone about a week ago. I only used the phone mostly for Whatsapp and to read e-mail and not really for phoning. I bought a new sim and tried a few times to do the swap at Cell C 140. Then I am asked unfair questions like what is the last 3 numbers I have dialed and when I last recharged and how much. Since I normally only buy a Whatsdapp bundle I do not worry too much about that and cannot remember when last did I recharge or with how much. The last numbers dailed I have no Idee who I phone more than a week ago and even if I did, I do not memorise phone numbers, that is why it is saved in the contacts on the phone. Since the phone is missing so is all the phone numbers. Now I cannot get my number back because of the fact I do not memorise my contacts' numbers. I need this number urgently. What I do not understand is that this sim was Rica'ed and all my info like residential address and ID etc is there. Why cant they ask me for that? The missing sim number is ********** 597</p> <p>What can be done now?</p>

Someone did contact me. But not of any help. Same problem. Person told me straight that if I cannot remember the last 3 numbers I have failed there is no chance I can get my number back. Does not matter If it was RICA and even if I can prove my identity. I asked him if he could remember the last three numbers he phoned. He could not. Problem still stay that I do not use this number regularly for phoning. It is for business and email and whatsapp. Even if I can remember who I phoned there is no way to memorise the numbers on my contact list I am not Superman or Einstein.
The phone is now missing. With the said sim. Someone else can do anything and get any message with my number. Cell C do not care about bit. But Cell Centre can not assist me to do a sim swap even if I can prove my identity. Just because I did not memorise the last 3 numbers I phoned. That isaid unfair and stupid. There must be someone with common sense that can assist me? Check my Credit Bureau profile my address my ID for crying out loud. I've been a Cell Centre customer since 2003 and still also have an active contrac that I just upgraded this week. I begin to feel I must have ported to someone else.
Please just help me some way to get my number to a new sim. Someone else is using it maybe. If I just still had the phone I could check on the call logs. But the phone is missing with the sim now two weeks ago. Please I beg you to understand and be realistic and help me. I can mail an affidavit proof of residence ID drivers licence anything you may need . I justhink urgently need that number back.
