Thank you for reaching out to us. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and frustration you’ve experienced with your SIM card and ownership issues. We understand the importance of keeping your number, especially since it’s been linked to your accounts for so long. In regard to the situation, it appears that the number is currently registered under your friend’s name, which is why you’re encountering difficulties with the SIM swap and ownership change process.
To assist you further, we would need both you and your friend to visit a Cell C store with valid identification. This will allow us to verify the details and help with the necessary ownership transfer and SIM swap. Unfortunately, this process cannot be completed remotely for security reasons. We understand this may be frustrating, and we are committed to resolving this matter for you as quickly as possible. Please visit the nearest Cell C store with your friend at your earliest convenience.
Thank you for your understanding, and we apologize once again for the inconvenience.

We understand the challenges you're facing, but unfortunately, the change of ownership process requires the person whose details are registered to complete specific steps for verification.
To move forward, we suggest that your friend write a letter requesting a change of ownership. This letter should be accompanied by a sworn affidavit and a copy of their ID. It’s essential to confirm where the affidavit can be done outside of South Africa. Please check with a local notary or consulate about this.
Once everything is prepared, the letter and documents should be sent to Cell C via email at ***, with the subject line: HP: Akif Doğan – Cell C number | Change of Ownership.
We hope this helps, and we’re happy to assist further if needed.
Kind regards,
Cell C| NZ
