SIM CARD DAMAGED

After Cell C has upgraded their network my phone has been locked on emergency calls only from the 5/10. My phone was upgraded and a sim swap done in Feb. Went into the City View store today and was assisted by the manager Asanda who was not very helpful. Tested the sim card and said that it is damaged and needs to be replaced. ''I need to either pay R100 to change sim or go into Shoprite buy a sim and then phone the call centre who will be able to activate new sim card at a fee of R50''. After querying why i must pay for a new sim when i was issued new sim with my upgrade she says if i go to Pavillion where i did the upgrade then it would be free. Why should i now be inconvenienced - where is the customer service. This is the cell c franchise - your'll can buy out other networks contracts but can not do a simple sim replacement because store owners are different - what customer service is this???

I am not the only person to experience this problem there are also 5 other people i know off who have had the same issue after network upgrade(There was a supposed network clash). How can soo many peoples sim cards be damaged only after the network upgrade??
