Shocking service from Cell C Regarding Payment of Bills
Worst experience. During the outbreak of Covid-19, Cell C, without any warning cut my contract and took away my number due to non-payment, with NO warning. I stood in the que to organize a payment plan, which they never registered. I am now sitting with over a R10,000 bill with Cell C and their lawyers. I was forced to close my business due to Covid and therefor had ZERO income. I now have lawyers on my case who have such poor communication with their clients Cell C that when they eventually got hold of me, they said that they had been trying to get hold of me for ages. I asked them what number they were calling me on and they gave me the number that Cell C had cancelled!!!!! So no proper communication there. The majority of us run our businesses off our phones and having that number cancelled with out my knowing meant I lost a LOT of clients. This happened with all of my colleagues in my industry (Health and Beauty) and outside of my industry. I offered to pay R100 a month with is basically what I can afford and they said no the minimum is R200 and then from October I shall have to start paying over R1000 to work the arrears off. I am totally unable to do this. I have no idea what to do and feel that Cell C's conduct has been completely unprofessional. They have now ruined my credit rating as well by adding a debt collector to my case. So I am going to have to pay my Cell C bill, plus lawyer's fees, as well as debt collector fee's (if there are any and I suspect there are). POOR POOR POOR service from Cell C when I have been a loyal client for years on contract, and a large contract at that. They have also started calling my mom who is my next of kin and asking for personal details of mine which goes against the the POPI Act as follows: It was 1 July 2020 and the one year grace period to comply ended on 30 June 2021. Parliament assented to POPIA on 19 November 2013. The commencement date of section 1, Part A of Chapter 5, section 112 and section 113 was 11 April 2014. The commencement date of the other sections was 1 July 2020 (with the exception of section 110 and 114(4). The President of South Africa has proclaimed the POPI commencement date to be 1 July 2020.
