Sells you lies with your purchase of your flagship smartphone(all in the name of sales)

So let's throwback to the day of upgrading Oct 2016 I believe, Cell C Cape Gate. Now let's establish that I'm currently paying around R1350 on my contract with Cell C, so when I chose my device there wasn't anything that was not an option from Huawei P9, P9 plus, Samsung S7 edge, LG whatever etc. I was particularly interested in anything "phablet" or that was 5.5" to 6" has good after sale service e.g Screen repairs etc. , it just so happens that Samsung's Note 7 had decided that it no longer wants to be a smart device but rather a improvised explosive device hat had good after sale service e.g Screen repairs etc. So that left me with the Huawei Mate 8, which that day Cell C was already jamming everything Huawei down your throat the moment you enter the store with adverting and promotional Banting all over. After going backwards and forwards with the Huawei P9 plus and the Mate 8 I was sold on the Mate 8 based on the following.

1. 6" Full HD display 2. 4100mah battery(long battery life) 3. and most importantly "Huawei select" which is basically the equivalent of Samsung's ADH(accidental handling or something) with the exception of beside the 2 free screen repair you're allowed 1 free liquid damage repair or logic board replacement or 1 screen repair and 1 liquid damage repair.

This is how I interpreted it and understood it and had been the deciding factor. They nice lady arranging me this "last of stock" Huawei Mate 8 had sold me. I got my new phone they took a picture of me with the phone and the girl who had made the sale(obviously the picture is "proof" of sale as they get some sort of kickback/incentive to Cell C/employees one every Huawei P9/Plus and Mate 8 they sell.) they were even nice enough to throw in a dashboard mount for it. Which all is very good and well, but I would've preferred and had expected as much from Cell C that employees sales persons are fami****ized with phone warranties/guarantees as when the day came that my flashy Mate 8 sustained the liquid damage I took the phone to Huawei in Canal Walk to capitalize on this "Huawei select" warranty only to be left with a very sour taste in my mouth after being told that my phone IS NOT COVERED FOR LIQUID/WATER DAMAGE. You may ask why wouldn't I take out insurance on this extravagantly expensive mate device, but then again why would you if you're basically covered for liquid and screen damage?

Now this is the situation I'm currently in. I no longer have my nice phone, I now use it as a fancy paperweight in my office as the cost to repair this phone amount to near as makes no difference R7400 which doesn't suit my pocket as the phone is now if bought now anywhere from R10499 to R8499.

Unfortunately I know even now as I'm typing this, this won't fix my phone but I find comfort in the fact that I've decide after my contract expires with Cell C I will be taking my hard earned R1350 montly fee to MTN, Vodacom or heck I'll even go to Hellkom and spend my monies there without any intent of returning to Cell C. If you could spend just as much time on fami****izing employees with device warranties as you do training them to move units that provide the largest rebate/incentive for units sold then all of this could've would've should've been avoided. I guess this is why Cell C is and will remain a third rate South African cellular network.
