****med by a Cell C customer

Cell C allowed Payfast to pay an account for one of their clients from my credit card, and now refuse to allow Standard Bank ***** Division the details of the recipient of the money ****** from my bank account in a moment of autistic vulnerability. On 11 March while I was in the middle of trying to resolve another account problem, I, being autistic, and unable to focus on more than one thing at a time, someone phoned me claiming to be from Standard Bank's ***** Department. If I had not been hyper-focusing on the problem already in my locus of concentration, I would've picked up that it was a ********* so it was my oversight that caused this money and others to be taken from my husband's credit card. While I accept that we should never divulge an OTP and that the money was lost to me, I want this company to at least have the decency to not also take advantage of my inability to focus, which is exacerbated by the fact that I am 73 years old and all the technology of the 21st century has moved beyond my ability to comprehend. This should be taken into account as it has been explained to all the companies involved in the receipt of ****** money, especially since the money was ****** from a Johannesburg account and paid to a customer in Tokai. I want them to simply provide the bank with the necessary details, and to be honest, I cannot understand why they simply can't reverse the payment from their customer's account, having all the details of the account according to the RICA rules as I understand them. Still I know it was my fault for not concentrating on what was happening, but I do think that my old age, and lack of understanding of how easily money is ****** from a credit card, as well as my near-diveristy should all be taken into account by the companies involved in the ****. Let this be a warning to people dealing with **********, if someone phones, claiming to be from a bank's ***** department, cut them off and then notify your bank of the attempt on your phone. They ought to be able to obtain the details of the *********'s number at the least in order to follow up the attempted *****. We have to stop these people, and the companies that enable them by refusing to cooperate with the banks' ***** Divisions.

Hi Ivy

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

The bank is responsible for this matter, the OTP comes from the bank not Cell C.

I actually don't care about the OTP, or the money anymore. What I do care about is that your company has the cellphone details of the *******, and you should be able to give that at least to the bank. If you want to keep the money, my loss, however, you can help prevent further theft by giving the bank the information they need to follow up the theft. It's not the OTP I want. I sent you a copy of the bank transaction, you should be able to find the customer's details, and be able to work with the bank department officials I provided, but you don't care, it's just too much effort to try to help old people and it's anti-neurodiversity to force someone with a mental health issue to suffer more distress. You have your money and that's really what it's all about - money. I will never buy airtime from you, and I will certainly recommend to anyone else that asks, to boycott your company.
