I got a wi-fi router from Cell C earlier this year, it is a R99 deal and I had it capped at R1 so I wouldn’t pay more than R100 per month for the wi-fi (sim cell no: ********** 633). This month the bill is R204.00, I called the customer care last night to find out what is happening (REF No: ********** 518) and the agent told me that my cap had been increased to R100.00. I asked how that was possible as I had not requested an increase and specifically had it set at the limit of R1 as I didn’t want to spend any more that R100 on the wi-fi per month, she informed me that their SYSTEM did an affordability check and automatically increased my cap by R100. This is just bull, how does your SYSTEM know what is happing in my wallet or bank account on any given day to decide something like that for me?? How legal is it that you automatically increase a client’s cap without notifying or getting permission from the client??? I want to know who is now responsible for the extra R100 on this account as I did not give my permission for the increase or request it!!! If you had given me the courtesy of calling to ASK me if I was interested in increasing my cap I would have said NO!!! Can someone please URGETNLY get back to me on this…
