Repaired phone sold as new? Update

This is an update from my previous review (

Repaired phone sold as new?

Published by JohannMalan on Jan 17, 2017) (https://www.hellopeter.com/cell-c/reviews/repaired-phone-sold-as-new- ********** )

Which I thought had been sorted out but apparently not…

It has now been exactly 2 months and 1 day since I had given my phone in for repair at Cell C Loch logan Bloemfontein (05/01/2017).

And still I don’t have my phone. Although I could have taken my phone today (6/3/2017), I declined to do so…

After my previous review Mr Derrick Makhubele(Cell C social Media) phone me and almost immediately offered that Cell C would pay for 50% of the repair. Also stating as per my previous review that the phone is not a refurbished or repaired but a new phone. After much deliberation and the fact that I needed my phone urgently I accepted this offer. And paid the 50% ( R1653.00)

Sometime around the beginning of January I phoned Cell C Repair and inquired about my phone, they said that my device was still with the technician but that they would prioritise the repair as I have been waiting a long time.

Then on 14/2/2017 I received a sms from CellCREPAIR that my device had been dispatched from them.

A long time went by without any communication from Cell C. I decided to phone Cell C Loch Logan and they informed me that there was no such phone with them.

I then phoned CellCREPAIR and they informed me that the phone was dispatched 14/02/2017and signed for (received) at Cell C Loch Logan on 15/02/2017.

I phoned Cell C Loch Logan once more 28/02/2017 and spoke with the manager, Thandi. Gave her my Job Card Reference number( FSBL089141). And as my colleague was reading her the different aspects listed on the job card she informed us that the phone was not: “In Warranty”

I asked her how that could be as on the Job Card book-in details it states “ Device Warranty: In Warranty” “ Expiry Date: 08-OCT-18”

She said that she would have to inquire and would get back to me. And also follow up with RAM Couriers about the phones whereabouts.

Then today 6/3/2017 12:28pm I received a call from Thandi informing me that the phone was at Loch Logan and that I could come and collect it. I enquired about the warranty, and she told me to come to the branch so we could phone them together.

I guess the phone was misplaced? As Thandi didn’t give me a clear answer only something about someone not doing their job.

I could only go after work and when we tried phoning CellCREPAIR we learned that they had closed at 17:00.

She wanted to give me my phone but I declined, as I will not take a phone where the Warranty has been voided…

The simple fact that the warranty has been removed/ voided implies that there is something wrong with the phone. Or the Repair Centre does not have confidence in this device as it is. And has been since the day it was sold to me as “NEW”

So now you can keep the phone and warranty, I will not be accepting the phone…

Oh and don’t even try and call me saying that the warranty has been reinstated…

You can now reimburse me for the R1653.00 I paid to repair “your” phone and supply me with a new phone.

I have been patient for more than two months. But this is enough.

Also the warranty has been voided without any communication to me, if the job card items had not been read to Thandi I would not have known about the warranty being voided. Or is this simply the way Cell C conducts business?

PS: Can I please receive my monthly statements once more? Last one I received was November 2016. My debit orders from Cell C are very erratic but I have nothing to reconcile them against.

I tried viewing them on your website, but it simply says: “No Bills found for this period” no matter what month I select.

Saying that I was upset about this poor service would be quite the understatement…
