Repaired phone sold as new? Update 2

Repaired phone sold as new? Update 2

It's now been three months since I gave in my phone for repair.

Still this problem has not been resolved, due to poor communication, withholding of information and deceit on Cell C's part. I am past the point of disappointment.

Changing over to Cell C is the worst decision one can make.

So here's a breakdown of the process I've been through:

05/01/2017- Took my phone in for repair after phones screen went black and phone wouldn't switch on.

16/01/2017- My phone was allocated to a technician for repairs.

As per Cell C repair centre - phone has been worked on previously. I argued this and published a complaint. After being informed that they could not fix it under the warranty. As per my previous review Mr Derrick Makhubele(Cell C social Media) phone me and almost immediately offered that Cell C would pay for 50%of the repair. Also stating as per my previous review that the phone is not arefurbished or repaired but a new phone. After much deliberation and the fact that I needed my phone urgently I accepted this offer. And paid the 50% ( R1653.00)

The question remains: why in the world would I have my phone repaired by a third party if my phone is under warranty??

Just to add, No one, not once informed me about the warranty being voided.

14/02/2017- I received a sms from CellCREPAIR that my device had been dispatched from them. A long time went by without any communication from Cell C. I decided to phone Cell C Loch Logan and they informed me that there was no such phone with them.

I then phoned CellCREPAIR and they informed me that the phone was dispatched 14/02/2017and signed for (received) at Cell C Loch Logan on 15/02/2017.

28/02/2017- I phoned Cell C Loch Logan once more on 28/02/2017 and spoke with the manager, Thandi. Gave her my Job Card Reference number( FSBL089141). And as my colleague was reading her the different aspects listed on the job card she informed us that the phone was not: “In Warranty” I asked her how that could be as on the Job Card book-in details it states “ Device Warranty: In Warranty” “ Expiry Date: 08-OCT-18” She said that she would have to inquire and would get back to me. And also follow up with RAM Couriers about the phones whereabouts.

06/03/2017- 12:28pm I received a call from Thandi informing me that the phone was at Loch Logan and that I could come and collect it. I enquired about the warranty, and she told me to come to the branch so we could phone them together. I guess the phone was misplaced? As Thandi didn’t give me a clear answer only something about someone not doing their job.

Please note: The phone was misplaced for 20 DAYS! Where no-one had any idea where it was.

She wanted to give me my phone but I declined, as I will not take a phone where the Warranty has been voided…

The simple fact that the warranty has been removed/ voided implies that there is something wrong with the phone. Or the Repair Centre does not have confidence in this device as it is. And has been since the day it was sold to me as “NEW”

-/03/2017- Since then I have been in contact with Derrick Makhubele, telephonically and per email.

I requested photos showing previous work and missing *****s as per the repair centre. After numerous request and calls. I finally received a photo (no indication of missing *****s however or any proof of the device in the photo being my device) Time stamp on the photo indicates same period my phone was in for repair. I requested more photos from CellC repair centre showing these alleged missing *****s

And believe this if you can: They sent me a photo of a device with missing *****s, time stamped "14/03/2017"

Please note at this time (14/03/2017) my phone was no longer at the repair centre.

So as I understand it, they just took a picture of any phone lying around, removed some *****s and sent it to me, saying it's my phone? This is *****, is it not?

Mr Derrick Makhubele says he informed me from the start about the warranty being voided, and I disagree.

I've never been informed.

17/03/2017 I've requested the call recording proving this, he said he would happily supply it. And since then he has gone quiet again.

I should have expected as much I guess. This I've learned over the past 3+ months.

Almost 3 weeks to supply a recording and nothing yet, could be 3 months I guess... Or maybe it's the same as with the ********** photo? We'll have to wait and see.
