Repair Centre

I received a new handset (Huawei P7) in August 2015. In September 2016 I handed it in at the local Cell C store since the device refused sometimes to switch off the screen lock or answer a call. The phone was 13 months old.

I received a 'replacement' quote of R 1450 to replace the phone with a P8 since there was no stock of the P7 phones and the device was out of warranty and 'beyond economical repair'. I did not accept this and wanted to weigh my options.

I decided to take them up on the offer and went back to the store. The phone was sent back to them without my knowledge and I had to re-book the phone since the 'offer' expired. I did so.

The store then 'forgot' to send in the phone and when I enquired 6 weeks later the phone was quickly booked in. I was given a message to call Cell C Repair centre with a reference number.

Now I still need to pay R 1,450 for a replacement (read 2nd hand) phone with a 90 day warranty. I refused!

Other companies offer clients a 2 year warranty on handsets. You cannot quote a customer R 1,450 for a 2nd hand phone with a 90 day warranty. Although Cell C has great deals, this level of service and support on handsets is not on. Very dissapointed.

Update in this matter.

Cell C was quick to respond, but unfortunately there was no resolve as they still wanted me to pay for a 'replacement phone' with a 3 month warranty which they wanted to up to 6 months.

I eventually received my phone back - NOW NOT WORKING AT ALL. This was a phone that was used daily and only had a problem that SOMETIMES the button on the side would not switch the screenlock off, which meant I could not answer calls. Now the phone does not even switch on......

This matter was resolved, the following took place:

 • The consultant contacted you, investigated, liaised and provided solutions which you did not accept.
 • You advised that the quotation should be rejected as you did not accept the warranty options that were provided.
 • Communication was sent to repairs, advising that you have rejected the quotation. Therefore the handset was not repaired.

You can visit your nearest Cell C store and have the handset booked in for repairs.
