****** TO CHINESE CUSTOMERS

Good day

I am a manager at a Chinese restaurant. The Chinese chef came to me to ask me to see what I could help woth as the recharge voucher that he had purchased was not loading. I entered the number and saw that his sim card had been locked because of an invalid number. I contacted Cell C helpline and asked them to assist.

I was asked to give the phone to the account holder and he tried to communicate with the consultant but could not. I took the phone from the gentleman and spoke to the consultant. I explained that any questions that he had could be asked to me and the gentleman would give the answer via translation.

The consultant asked me what language he spoke and I told him Chinese. I could hear him talking in the background and when he came back on line, he informed me that he could not assist as he could not speak to him directly and would have to go to a cell c shop.

This is unacceptable as any person that phones the helpline and doesn't speak english or a african language cannot be helped. What would happen if I was deaf?

This is unfair and ****** against anyone who is not capable of speaking english, even with a translator preaent.
