porting number

I took up a cell c contract and explained that I have my number for over 10 years and want it ported to cell c so I don't have to carry two phones for different numbers and was told to wait 24 to 48 hours for the number to be active and when I went to cell c branch the next day of taking the contract I'm told to go back to the branch I took the contract n speak to the manager and then I did that and they said there's another fee for that... Because I suppose to do it the same time of taking the contract? Now I have a cell c number and another number ? Please sort this out I specifically mentioned to have my number and am not aware of this extra fee when I was told to come back to the branch to port... If I knew this then I would clearly just took a prepaid phone instead n used my number.
