Poor customer post sale service and poor product

I took a telephonic cellphone contract with Cell C and received the iphone 11 on the 09th September 2025. I was so happy when it got delivered and thought I received good service. But things turn around immediately after opening my package. I realised then that it is a pre-owned device. I specifically asked on the phone call when I spoke to their agent if the phone was new and the answer I got was that Cell C does not have second hands so yes the phone is new. The phone came without a charger or earphones.

I called Cell C with my query why did I get an old phone with no charger and no earphones, I was told that the iphone i took is a second hand and second hands do not come with a charger of the earphones. I accepted the sad news as the phone seemed to be working at that time, so I bought my own charger and screen protector at the local cellphone shop.

6 weeks down using the phone I just started to no longer work, No fall no incidents just the phone itself not working, After several phone calls to Cell C and being told to go to the branch for the problem I had I went to the Cell C branch at the Grove Mall Pretoria, There I was told that they do not assist telephonic deals only their clients who bought in store. After a sit in and phone call made to Cell C customer line I eventually managed to get heard and my phone was taken to the repairs. This happened on Thursday 30/10/2025 when I left my phone at Cell C store for repairs. It is Tuesday today I still do not have my phone and have not heard a word from anyone from CellC. I feel so frustrated and wonder if this phone contract is worth keeping as I only made 1 payment to it thus far. I cannot go through this for the next 36 months and it is clear that when problems come I am on my own. I trusted Cell C and did not think they can sell broken stuff but clearly I was so wrong.

I want to cancel this contract and be freed again as this is clearly a nightmare of a contracted just as it starts.

I am still frustrated by Cell C that even today my problem is not getting resolved. I even attempt to cancel the very contract and it is now a mission. I have not had a phone for 2 weeks and still no 1 at Cell C realises the urgency of my problem. I really never thought such a terrible treatment exist in Cell C since I know a few of my family and friends using cell C and seem happy with it. How sad.

Thank you for your response. But seeing that your ERC is taking forever to fix it, Cell C should consider quicker solutions than to just wait on ERC until who knows when! I just took this contract 6 weeks ago. I should not be experiencing this kind of treatment. secondly I do not want that phone any longer, 36 months will be a very long time to go through with a broken phone that requires fixing time and time again.

My apologies for the missed calls, When I am at work I am not always able to take calls. I am available for a call today. Unfortunately even my attempts to return missed calls I get from Cell C are always fruitless. I get different people every time who make me tell my story from the beginning over and over again. Yesterday I spoke to 3 different people for 58 minutes on the phone and still none of them was able to assist me with concluding the matter. I really do not know how long this matter will be hanging. I wanted to cancel this contract yesterday but was told that I must wait to get the phone back before I can do that. Everything is a nightmare for me at this point I am feeling helpless.

I received my phone from Cell C on Friday the 14th November 2025 and it was working. I then called Cell C on Monday the 17th November 2025 and spoke to Ntebaleng and told her that I do not want the phone anymore since I don't trust that it will work for the next 36 months. She promised to escalate my complaint as this is not within the terms of my contract that I can cancel it at this stage. Today is the 21st November 2025 she never called me back. Yesterday the phone broke down again by itself and is not working again and Ntebaleng still has not gotten back to me with any feedback. This morning 21/11/2025 i called Cell see customer care and spoke to Bulelwa and requested to CANCEL my Cell C contract as I do not want that phone. She logged my request and told me feedback will be in 24 to 48 working hours. That means I am going to wait 4 days (incl Weekend) to have feedback. What kind of contract is this CELL C????

I got the device on the 09/09/2025 and it broke down on 22 October 2025 and just went black on the 28th October 2025, I took it in for repairs on the 30 October 2025 and only got it back on the 14th November 2025. I then had it for 1 week when it broke down again yesterday yet I get told that I must keep it or pay cancellation fees of R12 000+ if I cancel now!!! Please someone at Cell C should explain this to me. What cancellation fee should I pay when the contract was bridged from day 1??
