Phone broke right after upgrade

I upgraded my data package from Cell C in Tygervalley. After receiving an sms about new Cell C settings, my phone just died. It doesnt even want to charge. I took the phone back the next day, and the manager said, that since the phone was with me, it was probably something I did! He said the phone needed to be sent away for about 2 weeks. When I asked what was I to do without a phone for 2 weeks, he said they didnt have a loan phone. And also that it wasnt their responsibility . Only after I insisted, did he offer to phone other branches. He said that I would also loose all data on the phone. I was very upset about this, as you can understand. The manager was very unapologetic and unsympathetic. It is very suspicious that my phone would just die, one day after it was upgraded by Cell C. I also see similar post on this website.
