Paying for ******* phone

My boyfriend took out a contract with Cell C as a gift to me. He pays over R700 a month for an iphone which after paying so much must last years to come yet the contract is not even due for upgrade yet and the iphone's battery doesnt last. When we went to query about what could be done we basically got the "oh well tough luck" answer. Why do we pay so much for a ******* phone. I have two contracts with cell c and my boyfriend have four. We are regreting it!! Cell c is a **** just selling overpriced contracts and not fixing their faults!!!!!! Very quick to pester you for paying R5 short but whats happening now?????
