PATHETIC SERVICE & EMPTY PROMISES
I recently app**** for a contract with Cell C. I received a sms on the 21/02 stating that for one day only (22.02) you could apply for a Huawei P20 lite, with 1GB Data, sms's and minutes on a MediaPlay Top Up Account for R249 per month. I immediately called the number provided on 084 135 and spoke to a gentleman named Dennis. He was helpful and assisted me, proceeded to do a credit check and told me after about 2 minutes that i had PASSED. He then proceeded to ask me security questions and then asked for my personal information, which i provided. He provided his email address and asked me to forward 3 months bank statements, a latest payslip and a copy of my ID which i sent him. I explained that i had opened a new bank account and that i didn't have bank statements yet to which he responded "send me the 3 months statements of your previous bank account, because it is still active we can use it, then call the call centre and ask them to change the details accordingly". I was very pleased and happy at this point. He then proceeded to tell me that it would now go to the vetting department and then it would take 3-5 working days to receive the handset, he also stated that i would receive a email, which i did stating "congratulations, please use the tracking number provided to track your parcel or click the link below". I said to him on the phone, please do not get my hopes up, is there any chance that this application will not go through to which he responded "No Ma'am, there wont be any issues, you have already passed the credit check, this is just to finalize things and your handset will be on its way". I received no SMS, no email or telephone call so decided to call them myself. I was THEN and only THEN told ma'am your application was not successful - AFTER BEING REASSURED that everything was peachy and that there weren't any hiccups. I sent 3 emails before i got a phone call from Dennis today on which he repeated himself about the vetting department having the final say (keep in mind, this was AFTER i asked if there was a chance it would be declined & AFTER i was told NO.) To make matters worse, I have sold the phone i was using and am currently using a cheapie whilst i wait for my new contract. Dennis told me that a supervisor would call me to discuss, this was before 12pm today and i have still not received a call. Bottom line, let this be a lesson to CELL C to ensure that the correct and full information is given to customers before the time, you cannot promise someone something, only to take it away, especially when all the relevant questions were asked beforehand. I said to Dennis that I quite frankly do not care if someone there has to sign surety for the cell phone contract (in case i don't pay but to which I HAVE FULL INTENTIONS of paying) I want my device as promised to me. This is not a customer problem but a lack of CORRECT communication with Cell C and their customers.
