Pathetic service

My contract ends on 10 April.i phone in on 9 March after 3pm to give notice to cancel it.After going through the whole process,they tell me that I must phone tomorrow only.if the cancel it today,I have to pay a cancelllstion fee.REALLY NOW.???I'm working tomorrow and might not get a chance to phone.Definitely my last contract with them
