Pathetic agents - no help with network issue

I have not had network coverage for 2 days, counting. When I called Cell C call centre and explaned my problem, the guys just stratight away told that my sim card is damaged. When I asked him how can he possibly know that without examning my phone, he told me that it is normal for Cell C sim cards to get damaged after some time and I have to do sim swop at my cost. I have had the sim for less than a year and in the time I probably only removed it from the phone once or twice. Ref ********** ********** 84, Ntado Yabo.

Then I called the cancellation department since the disconnection of my sim from the network for no reason constitute breach of contract. The lady, Alany, has the guts totell me she can't cancel the contract unless I pay cancellation fee. Wht nonsense. I'm cancelling because Cell C has breached our agreement by not providing me the service (network) I'm paying for. The lady was adamant that she can't cancell despite my request. Ref ********** ********** 944.

Theodorah did contact me on Friday and today (Monday). On Friday she advised that I should insert the sim card in a different phone which I did and established that the sim card was/is not damaged as claimed. Be that as it may, today she advised that I needed to buy a new sim so she can do a sim swop at Cell C's cost. The sim swop was done this afternoon and by 17:00 my number was reconnected to the network and I can resume using it again. Thank you.

However, during the few days (6 - 10 Oct) that my sim was disconnected for no apperant reason, I had to buy data for my other number. For this reason, please request your Billing department to ensure that my invoice for this month is pro-rata. Secondly, the sim swop as indicated by Theodora should not be charged to my account.

What exactly do you mean "assisted"? Does that mean you have requested your billing department to ensure that my bill for this month must be pro-rata? Theodorah has NOT contacted me about this particular matter.

I have just had a call from Theodorah. Unfortunately we do not agree on the issue. As far as she is concerned, the old sim card is faulty, which by the way is just about a year old. However, she can't describe what the fault is. From my perspective the old sim card if it were faulty, the phone would not prompt me for a pin number, instead it should read "insert sim card" or something to that effect. But this is not the case.

By wavering the sim swop cost, according to Theodorah that is the equivalent of the 5/6 days cost to me that I had not service from Cell C.

When asked how I can take my complaint further, she advised that everything concerning this matter stops at her level. Seeing that I have reached the highest level within Cell C to resolve my complaint, I will then proceed to lodge a dispute with ICASA.
