Over charging

I took out a month-to-month LTE contract with Cell back in June 2017 and cancelled my contract on July 19 2017, which means my final payment on this account would be Aug 2017 as there is a 30-Day cancellation period. I received a confirmation via email that states the following: “Please note contract number ********** 951 will be cancelled on the 19/08/2017,the last bill will be in August if no extra usage will be made during August 2017”

When the contracts amount went off again on the 30 Sep 2017 I gave Cell C a call to find out what is going on. The first person relayed in saying that there are back payment that needs to be paid even though this was a month-to month. So I pulled up my banking statements relating to this contract and found out if I in deed have not paid this contract up to date. What I then found is that on the 31 Jul 2017 I paid R 1 398.02 (Which is double the contract amount of R699) and paid again on the 31 Aug 2017 R 699. With the above in hand a called Cell C again on the 1 Oct 2017 @ 17:51. I then ask the representative how many payments I had to do in order to pay up the contract amount and his replay was three. Which is correct, as there are no backwards payment on a month-to-month contract. I then processed to explain to him why Cell C over charged me as with the September 2017 payment I’ve paid 4 premium towards this account. After 30 min of back and forth finally the representative concluded that, they/Cell C did over change me. The solution he presented is that they refund me the overcharged amount and he will SMS me the details with the reference number. This has not happened as of yet.
