OLD CONTACT CLOSED BUT CLAIMS I HAVE A BALANCE!!!!

I used to have a contract years ago and when it ended I cancelled it. I have been receiving annoying non stop calls from companies claiming that my account was handed to them as I “apparently” still have a balance that I owe. This is frustrating as I know I cancelled that account years ago and this “MIMBLE” group is affecting my credit score as it appears as a “personal loan” on my ITC!!!! Can someone please clarify what is going on!!
