Not happy with cellphone service provider

Not happy at all with signal and data when traveling. Was in Northern Cape this week and can only use my phone when in a town and or City. What if I need to make a call when I'm in a emergency situation? I've traveled almost 2000km and 90% of the my traveling I couldn't use my phone ! How can I get out of this contract to move on to another service provider?
