Moving to Cell C NOT free

In July I moved to Cell C from Vodacom, on the promotion Cell C had I moved and was advised that my account with Vodacom will be settled. I collected the phoned and the gift card and was NOT advised to use it to settle my outstanding account. I now have to pay for 2 accounts because I was not informed correctly
