Most Pathetic Network

I have recently cancelled my cell c contract, while I was told that I cannot retain my number onto prepaid and I would need to buy a new sim and call 084143 to get my number back once it is cancelled. I have done so, however every single time I call, I get a different story. One lady stated that the guy who cancelled my contract will have to call me back, so she took my details however I still haven't received that call. About 7 hrs after that, I called again and spoke to a lady by the name of thalitha. She had sent through a query to retain my number and told me she will call me back shortly. It was 2 hours later and still no call so I decided to phone again. This time I asked for thalitha however she was busy so the lady on the line tried to help but to no avail. She then took down my details and told me that thalitha is finished on her call and will phone me back. It's now past office hours and no call. I'm absolutely upset with the poor quality of service. Seems like most of the agents don't know what they're doing. My cell number is linked to absolutely everything, including my banking. I therefore need my number urgently. Can someone more competent please help?
