Mooiriver Mall Potchefstroom together with headoffice totally inefficient

My father-in-law died two weeks ago. He had four cell phone contracts on his name, which was his, my wife's, her mother's and her brother's. We went to Mooiriver Mall on Saturday to do a change of ownership from my father-in-law to the individuals, with my wife's going on my name. The change of ownership went through from my mother-in-law and brother-in-law without hassle, but on my account they needed to phone my employer. Don't know why because they did not have to do that with the other two. They can only do that on Monday, so I was promised that there won't be any problem with the death certificate being handed over, and that my wife's number won't be blocked.

On Monday my wife received a call from Cell-C Legal department telling her her number was blocked. I called the Cell C shop, Mooiriver Mall and they told me that head office tried contacting my employer on Monday morning, but could not get through. They never tried again, and thus the transfer to my name was not done, and the number was blocked because they received the death certificate (the one department said that the number was blocked because of the account not being paid (which we manually did on Saturday), and the other department said it was the death certificate.

Now today they asked for my employment contract to confirm my employer. I was supp**** directly, to which they came back and said that there were some signatures missing where we changed a date from 2013 to 2014. We got those signatures, sent it through, and they still did not accept it.

I then tried head office, because the Mooiriver Mall Cell C shop couldn't get anything sorted, and I was on the phone for about an hour being moved from the one department to the next, at last getting through to the credit vetting department, who then told me they can only phone employers from 8h00 to 16h00. It was 15:58 when I spoke to the consultant, but she did not want to help me. She then told me they don't directly deal with the public, and that I should phone the shop. But the shop couldn't get anything right.

They also cannot understand the urgency of the cell phone being blocked, as I have a three week old and a two year old at home with my wife, so if anything happens... I don't even want to think about it.

Now lastly I phoned the retension department, but they did not do anything, only said that I tried all my options, and they can't help any further.

My question is, how difficult is it to retain a customer and just phone the employer. Or even, if the pay is large enough, you have the payslips, the bank statements, the proof of address and the employment contract?

I have never received such bad service in all my life, not even from Telkom or the Tshwane Municipality.

Reviewer Update

Cell C Mooiriver Mall just contacted me now to say that the Change of Ownership has been completed, and that the phone is unblocked, which I can confirm.

Thank you very much, just a shame that I had to go to the lenghts of complaining on Hello Peter before this could be completed.
