Monthly subscription increased without warning
<p>Most cellphone contracts are advertised as R xx/pm for 24months. You would expect the amount you sign up for to remain the same for the 24months, but not Cell C! They have it in the small print that they are allowed to change the rates. Now here is where my problem comes in:</p> <p>I explicitely asked them when I upgraded my contract over the phone if the subscription amount will remain the same for the full duration of the contract (since they caught me with the small print BS on my previous contract.) The confirmed that the amount is for the full 24 months.</p> <p>About 10 months later and I noticed that my subscription has increased with 5.5%. According to Cell C they did send out correspondence. I complained to customer services since and they said they'll come back to me in 48hours. It is more than a week later and I have not heard from them.</p> <p>How can they advertise a contract and then just change the cost to will and we the customers must continue paying or pay a cancellation fee is we can no longer afford it? Its just not justifiable.</p> <p> </p>
In terms of your subscriber agreement, Cell has the option of varying any of its charges from time to time.
We will get one of our team members to contact you and provide clarity.

Best regards,
My subscriber agreement was done via telephone, of which you record the conversations. Now if you listen to the conversations, you'll pick up that I explicitedly asked about increases and they confirmed that the subscription amount will remain the same for 24months. Thus we have a verbal contract for the subscription to remain at the agreed amount. You are breaking your contract with me and I will take action if you do not rectify the situation.
